Topic: Keep Freedom of Choice for Joomla! - An online petition |
|
Wednesday, 20 June 2007 |
In the spirit of democracy and free speech, I have started an online petition for those users who believe that the Joomla licence position pre-June 15th should be restored. To help achieve this aim, I have set up a petition, called 'Keep Freedom of Choice for Joomla!' at http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/keep-freedom-of-choice-for-joomla.html
The petition states:
We, the undersigned, wish to express our concern with the Joomla Core Team's decision to force third party developers to re licence their extensions to the GPL.
The current mixture of GPL and commercial development has helped to grow Joomla to be the world's leading Content Management System, for over 100,000 users. The new direction on strict GPL licencing threatens this ecosystem.
We therefore ask that the new GPL only policy is withdrawn, and that Joomla reinstates its previous policy to allow a mixture of GPL and commercial third party software.
I would urge all that support this stance to sign it and make your view known to the core team. |
